North Central Missouri College Librarian, Beth Caldarello, was recently appointed to serve on the Secretary’s Council on Library Development. This council advises the Secretary of State’s Office on matters that relate to the State’s libraries and library service to Missouri citizens.

Help Desk member and MOBIUS Trainer Jennifer Parsons is leaving MOBIUS on Friday, July 8th.

Jennifer recently accepted the position of Digital Resources Librarian at Central Methodist University and she is very excited to expand her skills and engage in new projects along side the librarians of CMU and the Quest cluster.  Her last day at MOBIUS will be Friday, July 8.  

Jennifer has enjoyed working with the MOBIUS family of libraries over the last seven plus years and getting to know and learn from so many of you.

LOCAL BUSINESS OWNER Diana Chadwick and her daughter, Rachel Peterson, recruitment specialist at Missouri State University-West Plains, recently donated 50 audio books to the university’s Garnett Library for use by faculty, staff, students and community members.

How many times have you read a book because a friend raved about it? The Springfield-Greene County Library staff is compiling a list, “Read to Lead,” by asking community leaders about their book recommendations.

We’re continuing this series with an additional focus: TED Talks. In February, the Library was granted the opportunity to stream one day of the live TED Talk International Conference. The grand reopening of Tulsa’s Central Library, which had been expected this summer, has been pushed back to the fall.

More than two years and $50 million have gone into renovating downtown’s 51-year-old Central Library.

Central Library, part of the Tulsa City-County Library system, will hold its grand reopening Oct. 1, with staff and furnishings likely moving into the updated building in mid-August, CEO Gary Shaffer said.

The library, located at Fourth Street and Denver Avenue, was built in 1965 and is approximately 135,000 square feet.
